Article Guidelines

Articles for CLJ are assigned to someone interested in writing about a particular topic, based on a group of assigned titles. Article topics will be offered to all reviewers, but writers must have an interest in the subject, or have read other books on the subject, or have worked with such books in a teaching or library setting.

If you have a subject you would love to write about, email Nancy and she’ll see about adding that to the schedule.

The writer will be assigned a group of titles, at a particular interest level, for an article, and will also be asked to make recommendations concerning these titles.

Article Guidelines

Read each of the books assigned for the article. Then choose to either write individual reviews of each title, or an article describing each title individually, and comparing and contrasting the titles.  If one or more titles cannot be recommended, please write a paragraph stating why it cannot be recommended and send that along with your reviews or article. Before submitting the article, please answer these questions about your assigned titles. Put yourself in the place of the librarian of a Christian teacher or homeschool parent, building this part of their library.

  1. If you could buy only one of these titles for the Christian reader, which title would you recommend and why? Would you be looking for a title which covers the subject field well at this level, or simply the best of the books you reviewed? Either would work.
  2. If you could buy two titles, which two would they be? You may or may not wish to include the title mentioned in the first question.
  3. If you bought the titles you mention above, would you be interested in later buying other titles in the group you received? If so, which ones?
Your responses will contribute to the effort of building a recommended core collection for the Christian reader.
